The Main Reasons Why You Should Set Up A Facebook Fan Page:

One of the most important factors in branding yourself properly online is to set up a Facebook fan page. The truth is, however, that as many invites to fan pages you might get through Facebook, many people aren’t aware they exist or why they might need one. Here are some factors to consider:

Look At Your Competition

If others in your market have fan pages, you should have one too. If they do not have fan pages, perhaps Facebook isn’t a place where your market hangs out. Don’t let yourself get in that mindset. Remember, this is a great opportunity to get ahead of the market. Don’t miss this opportunity. If your competitors do have fan pages, what is happening on their fan pages? What can you do with yours to improve it and add value to your market?

Consider Your Facebook Personal Profile Page

If you are a solo entrepreneur, such as running a home-based business, are you trying to use your personal profile page for personal friends and family, to extend your business and brand, or both? A Fan Page is a great way to draw a line in the sand between personal and business activities. You can do both. In fact, many people did before fan pages became popular. Please note that you need to carefully go over your Facebook privacy settings.

Are Your Customers Asking?

As part of my work training others how to brand themselves online, many are learning the importance of social connections. Wouldn’t it be nice to have a place with them in mind? If you or your company has an established brand in the market, a fan page is a great way to extend it, engage your market further, and gain customers.

Your Facebook Fan Page- Have a Plan

Depending on your market, the level of management and maintenance of your Facebook fan page will vary. If you have a fan page, do you know what you will do with it? Does it fit within an existing Facebook marketing strategy? In order to maximize the success of the page, consider your objectives for it, and have a plan to seed it with meaningful content, so that your fans have a reason to return. It could be as simple as adding a status update to the page on a daily basis, updating it with blog content via RSS, or having someone manage the fan page for your company or brand full time. Please note that it is important to avoid having a stagnant fan page, as that could work against your marketing initiatives.

If you are trying to market yourself or your company online, and do not have a Facebook fan page, get going and set one up! For free training on this topic, among many others, be sure to sign up for free weekly training.
