While both the business world, and our personal lives, are rapidly filled with, and affected by, a seemingly endless stream of technological and communication devices, some people may dismiss the importance of a business card. After all, it is simply a small piece of cardboard with some basic information. If you’re of this mindset, it may be time to reconsider.

As the Chief Executive Officer of Best Designed Blogs, I am often working on various business promotions. One of the most common is simply having a good conversation with someone. When the opportunity presents itself, I make sure to hand the person my business card. On a related note, when members of my company conduct business seminars, many business cards are handed out. Keep in mind that business cards are also easily tacked up on bulletin boards at churches, grocery stores, and universities, among other places.

Considering what a business card represents, it is hugely important that you do not go with a cheaply made product. My company’s business cards have information printed on both sides. In addition, the cards embossed and printed on high quality stock cardboard. There are numerous companies, and individuals, who make top notch business cards at a reasonable cost. Don’t overlook eBay as a source for business cards.

Sure, some of your business cards will simply get tossed aside by those who either receive them, or take them from a display stand. Don’t get discouraged about this. Those who are serious about business building issues are the ones who will most likely keep a business card. It is not uncommon for people I have met with to keep a business card for while and then call me later. It’s almost as if they needed some time to think, and perhaps do some research, before calling. That’s not a problem at all. The members of my company and I always welcome legitimate business inquiries.

Keep in mind that purchasing business cards may also be tax deductible depending on the country you live in.

I recommend having something printed on the back of a business card. It is basically an “advertising space” and allows you to provide further information about your company’s products and services.
