Marketing Resources

Undoubtedly, e-mail marketing is beneficial to many people for a variety of reasons. However, there is a lot more involved than simply being kind enough to make free reports available. You need to provide your readers with something valuable, which will keep them seeking your updates and willingly staying on your mailing list.

You have options when it comes to free reports. Some people choose to send out e-mail messages containing standard updates, while offering discounts for services and products. Others will pen a monthly newsletter. Once you have people who have on your list, another option is providing a free report detailing what motivates people to actually go ahead and sign up. When it comes to sending a report, or update, to your prospects, be sure to remember the following:

1. Easy Does It!

This format is not a time to lecture people. This may remind many people of their university days. People want to be taught, but keep the tone light. Show that you’re a useful, logical source for information. During this process, keep in mind the value of using a conversational style of writing. It is along the lines of telling a story, mixing in anecdotes, while teaching something of value. Don’t be too casual, so that your readers consider you as being less than an expert. For some, this may take some practice, but this is worth the effort.

2. Resources Count

Add value to your free report by including numerous links and resources. Since your goal is to position yourself as a leader and gain trust, put in links to images, videos, websites, and other free reports. All of the links should not be your own. After all, the goal of this report is not to make sales. This will come over time. Of course, you should also build your value by adding in your own links as well. The main goal is to add a variety of valuable resources and links.

Also, be sure your free report has just enough useful information, but not too much. You don’t want to minimize, or negate, the reasons why prospects came to you to begin with. Hopefully, some of the prospects who sign up for your free reports will someday become your customers.
