Recently, Amanda Jansen, one of my company’s staff members, and I, talked about various business issues with a group of university students. Some of the students asked about how the Christmas season affects business sales. I explained that the Christmas season, and into the New Year, is a time when most people are willing to, and wanting to, spend money both on gifts for themselves and for loved ones. Although I am not an economist, it is well known that consumer spending benefits the economy on numerous levels. Plus, it gives many people a psychological boost.
To me, it is a misconception that people do not want to spend money. It is simply of giving them a reason to do so. Plus, having sale prices further, and obviously, increases the likelihood of this happening. My company, Best Designed Blogs, is no exception to this phenomenon, of course. We are currently having our December sale, which is our biggest promotion of the 2010 calendar year. It is way to say “thank you” to our customers for their business, along with having a goal for increased sales from current and future customers.
Our sales promotion certainly results in more inquiries from potential customers, and this is appreciated. Even with the fantastic sales and promotions, the need for “white hat” business techniques continues year round. We want our customers to know the value of, and appreciate, all of our business solutions, including, but definitely not limited to, outstanding software products and services.
I am not dismissing the fact that there are annual studies indicating that consumers spend their money carefully each Christmas season. There are people who have this mindset, comfort zone, or even necessity, no matter what season it is and I am very respectful of this. However, there are many other people who are willing to spend money, to invest, and to move forward, especially when it comes to worthwhile, and long lasting, business opportunities. This is why proper, and ethical, business promotion is so important. My staff and I know that no matter the time of year, it is crucial to remember that all customers are valued and appreciated. Keeping this in mind, along with adding in a phenomenal business promotion, certainly helps with having a joyous Christmas season.
