Most people with a blog or website know how important it is to get high quality links from other blogs and websites. Like many others, I realize that link building takes time. It basically is an ongoing process. I’ve learned some helpful tips along the way, which I would like to share with you.
One way to help with link building is to do an internet search, such as Google, Yahoo, or Bing, and find websites and blogs that, while they do not compete with you directly, they are in related fields. When you find these types of websites or blogs, contact the owner and respectfully offer to exchange reciprocal links. This is helpful for both businesses. Most people are happy to do so. However, don’t fret if someone turns you down. There are countless other quality opportunities for this. Just keep trying.
Keep in mind that people want to link to websites and blogs that are informative and provide valuable content. In cases like this, link building will occur steadily and take care of itself over time. Of course, most people do not want to wait this long, so continuing your link building efforts on a regular basis should not be overlooked and is certainly understandable.
I do not advocate automating the process of link building. I know that some people do this, but I believe it should be taken care of personally. Remember, you want to maintain control over which websites and blogs you link to and which ones you ask to link to your website and blog in return. This certainly helps you with quality control issues.
I have written about this previously, and it still applies because quality content is of utmost importance. People will bookmark it and make comments. As a result, Google, Yahoo, Bing, AltaVista, among others, will notice your efforts. This is very important when it comes to improving your status within the field of SEO (Search Engine Optimization). Remember, your target market values good quality content.
Be sure to stay the course. You may be offered chances to pay for various types of link building services. I recommend that you avoid doing so. Whenever a website or blog is new, it is basically in the “Google sandbox,” It takes time to “dig” your way out. However, following the path of adding valued content, along with high quality, and related, personal link building, certainly helps with this process not only now, but will continually provide long term benefits for you as well.
