Online forums, and there’s no shortage of them, provide seemingly endless opportunities for you and other marketers to interact with each other. I really enjoy forums. In addition to the social aspect, there is also the benefit of learning about new tips and marketing tools. Add in the abundant opportunity to build your reputation, which may help you make future sales, and you’ll further understand why forums are so beneficial. One thing to make clear, however, is making sure you become involved in a forum that is suitable for you.
The best way to get started is by finding an authority forum in your niche. A well established forum, with at least 3,000 members, posts at least one year old, and threads with more than 75 replies, is a good place to begin. A well established forum means the threads will have highly desired Google rankings. Additionally, search for threads that have interesting content, allow you to make posts, and ask valid questions. It is also important to participate in forums that allow for signature links. A signature link lets you get direct traffic from your posts, and allows you to include links that go back to your website. Don’t overlook the value of doing this.
While forums are worthwhile, you must add value. Along with writing some comments that are friendly and agreeable, be sure to develop questions for fellow writers, help those who have posted messages, and of course, write your own posts. By providing helpful, well written content, people within the forum will take notice of you and your efforts. I have noticed that some people will simply read through a forum and not post anything. This is unfortunate, as it is important to re-emphasize that forums allow you the opportunity to get recognized through search engines, provide free links to your website, and gain a positive reputation for yourself in the process. This certainly is a worthwhile, and helpful, way to build your online marketing status.
