Marketing Resources

When a person considers becoming involved with a multilevel marketing, or MLM, opportunity, a common concern is whether the MLM in question will likely be in business for the long term. A number of university and business leaders say there are three criteria that should be met in order to determine the likelihood of continued success.

The first factor is making sure the business promotes a highly consumable product. For example, the travel industry, especially luxury discount travel, is a highly consumable product. People love to get away to nice places and not spend a lot of money in the process. Even in tough economic times, many people will work to find a way to travel to various destinations. Given these factors, it is not surprising that travel is, by some estimates, a seven trillion dollar industry annually.

Next, having less than one tenth of one percent of the world’s population involved in the opportunity. Of course, overall the world’s population is tremendously large, so reaching this level is not always easily achieved. Even so, it is generally best to get involved with a credible multilevel marketing company sooner than later.

Lastly, it is important to make sure the company has been in business for at least two years. This means the company has gone through its initial “growing pains” and has established its roots in the business world. Although there are no guarantees, a company that has passed the two years mark is likely to continue in business.

While some people have negative thoughts, perhaps misconceptions, regarding the concept of MLM’s, there are many credible ones that easily meet, and sometimes even exceed the these factors. Yes, it may be tempting to become involved before these factors are met, but the MLM industry is filled with numerous examples of “too go to be true.” It is best to find an MLM that you are comfortable promoting, has a good training program, and meets each of these guidelines.

I have been involved with various MLM’s. I have been disappointed in how a few did not work out, but speaking from personal experience, I will say undoubtedly there are some really good multilevel marketing opportunities. There is definitely no reason to dismiss the entire industry outright.
