Speaking from personal experience, I know self discipline is an important aspect of working from home. To many people, it is difficult being as productive in your living room as it is in an office setting. One reason, of course, is because you do not have to worry about having a boss bellowing orders at you.
Thankfully, there are ways to help. Here are some of my favourite productivity tips:
1. Set Up A Method For Everyday Tasks-Don’t add common tasks, such as writing blog posts or uploading articles, into your day as an afterthought. Set aside a specific time each day to get things done. Also, have a method for getting things done. This way, you’ll work more efficiently and get these tasks done more quickly.
2. Avoid Multi-Tasking-Yes, I said avoid it. I have written about the downfalls of multi-tasking previously. I know a lot of people who advocate this so-called “ability,” but please note there is a second side to this story.
3. Track Your Goals-Keep track of what you have done and what still remains to be accomplished. Also, keeping track of your goals will help you to be more aware of what you did not get done. Personally, I prefer using an old fashioned paper calendar and schedule, although I have added in some electronic devices to help with these processes as well. I must admit that the electronic devices are proving helpful. Whatever your method, don’t overlook the value of doing this.
4. Check Your E-Mail Less Often-Don`t start your day going through a bunch of e-mail messages. E-mail is not work. Along these lines, checking your Facebook, Twitter, and other types of social networking sites, also needs to be put on hold until your legitimate business work is done.
5. You Must Take Care Of Yourself-Please do not overlook the importance of doing so. If you eat a diet of junk food and get only a few hours of a sleep each night, it is definitely likely you will not be a productive person. Be sure to get enough sleep, eat well, and get lots of exercise. Spend time each day working out. The benefits of taking care of yourself cannot be overstated both from a personal and business viewpoint.
My children, and the rest of my family and dear friends, are precious to me. I want to spend as much time with them as possible. Making myself a more productive home marketer certainly helps with this, so it is worthwhile beyond measure.
