Building a successful home business requires substantially more than “sticking your toe in the water” and hoping you’ll become incredibly successful. It’s not going to happen. There is no way to twitch your nose, like Bewitched, and have everything taken care of. Far from it, actually. You need to take charge. Life is too short as it is. Step out of your comfort zone and work to improve yourself. Yes, this advice applies to all aspects of life, including running a home business. You must be willing to push through all obstacles and discouragement.
Leaders are not wimpy. Leaders do not hesitate. A leader is a person who knows how to do something and helps others learn the same thing. Since you’re reading this, which is great by the way, it is likely that you believe you have what it takes to be a leader. That’s awesome. Are you truly willing to take the many steps necessary to achieve this? You must have aspirations and be willing to commit and recommit yourself each day.
The following poem, which I remember from childhood, helps put this subject into perspective:
MY WAGE
“We may as well aim high as low, ask much as little. The world will not miss what it gives us, and our reward will largely be governed by our demands.
I bargained with Life for a penny,
And Life would pay no more,
However I begged at evening
When I counted my scanty store;
For Life is a just employer,
He gives you what you ask,
But once you have set the wages,
Why, you must bear the task.
I worked for a menial’s hire,
Only to learn, dismayed,
That any wage I had asked of Life,
Life would have paid.”
