You’ve Written An Article….What’s Next?

Writing and submitting articles for online publication is something you should take very seriously. The value of a quality article is immense because it will draw attention to you and help you develop a following. In addition, articles are able to be used seemingly endlessly, plus they build up backlinks.

Some people may write an article and wonder what the next step is. There are plenty. All of them worthwhile. Let me back up a minute or two here and remind you to make sure you write the article. Don’t get involved with the issue of duplicate content. Be original. It may take time, but take pride in your work and not rehashing the efforts of someone else.

Getting back to the main topic….once I have written an article, here are the bases I believe definitely need to be covered each time:

Your own blog comes first. It is a common practice to write up a blog posts and then make some changes before the article is submitted to an article directory. If you have the time, you might want to write two different versions and submit one to the directories, while posting the other one to your blog.

Write Blog Comments. Once you do this, be sure to backlink to your articles. No spam comments. These are just junk. Anyone who has deleted their share of spam comments knows what to look for. So please, don’t waste my time or anyone else’s by being a spammer. Be sure to add comments that are well written, include a link to your articles and website/blog, and are relevant to the topic.

Social Network Postings. Whether you autopost or do so manually, make sure you post your articles to social networking sites such as Ping.fm, Twitter, Facebook, Amplify, among others. Of course, some sites such as Ping.fm allow you to post to a lot of social sites at once. Once you get once of these set up, it is a real times saver. I would highly recommend this process as opposed to manually posting to each network. Keep in mind the value of a Facebook fan page too when it comes to posting your articles.

Don’t Forget Exclusive Article Directories. After you’ve posted an article to your blog, be sure and make some changes. This is because exclusive article directories want the “fresh content” first. The quality backlinks you will get make this worth the effort.

Remember Digg…Among Others. Digg is an important social bookmarking site, along with StumbleUpon, among others. Use these services. Find others and get set up. Bookmark your articles often.

Submit A Few Times To Extra Article Directories. Don’t overdo how many times you submit your article. Google has a duplication blocker. I do not submit my article to more than 3 directories just to be on the safe side. After you’ve posted the article to your own blog, and then made changes before posting it to your primary (exclusive) article directory, then submit it to an extra article directory service.

Show the world you matter, but do so with good quality content. People look to leaders and you have the chance to be one of them. A good article may result in leads, traffic, and sales. Plus, it will help build your online marketing reputation. Keep in mind, what you write will be published to the internet, so make sure what you present to the world shows your best effort each time.
