Once your blog post is written, the task of getting people to read what you’ve written begins. It does not matter how fancy your blog is, or even how well written, you need to find ways to increase traffic to your blog. It may take you some effort, but there are ways to attract more readers to your website/blog.
Tag Your Content While there is auto tagging software available, it does not always get the job done correctly. Be sure and write at least 3, even 6, quality tags for your posts. This is a worthwhile process for your syndication efforts.
Use Guest Bloggers A great way to get content from others, and to expand the scope of your blog in the process. Be sure they’re OK with you editing their copy, if you need to. After all, it is your blog. Be sure to give guest bloggers credit. Of course, it is a good idea for you to return the favour and serve as a guest blogger also.
Careful Linking Strategy Don’t get carried away with too much linking. Make sure you’re link works and that it is associated with good, quality websites. If you mention a specific article or page, be sure to have a link to it. The same goes for another resource, website or even another blog.
Advertise Cautiously A lot of blogs have advertisements on them. If you go down this road, please be professional. Make sure the ads are placed properly, not near the headline for example, and are contextual. If you are just beginning a blog, it may be a good idea to keep the ads to a minimum or perhaps add them after your blog has gotten some followers. That is up to you, of course.
Social networks and search engines love blogs. They are traffic machines. The ideas I listed above are just a few ways to get traffic to you blog. Keep thinking…be creative…because there are more ways. Be sure to provide your readers with interesting content, while at the same time keeping any advertising to a minimum. The world of writing a blog is both fun and challenging. It is definitely worthwhile. Get going and write your blog post!
