For each one of us, from the Prime Minister to the “average Joe or average Jill,” time is one factor that remains the same. The amount of time we share is 24 hours in a day. You may wonder why certain people are able to get a lot accomplished each day, while others barely seem to get out of bed to greet the day. The answer, to a large extent, is part of a person’s mindset. If you have any desire for online marketing success, along with all other important tasks in life, you must have a solid game plan that you not only think about, but that you actively work toward daily. Here are some steps to help you meet your goals:
1. Time is precious…so STOP wasting it!!!
Most of us realize that even with a full day ahead of us to accomplish our daily tasks, a lot of people end up getting very little done. Independent internet business owners often begin surfing the web, and as each progressive page appears, they get a little bit further off their original topic. Before too long, research quickly turns into pointless surfing. Lots of time is therefore wasted. You may have found this post by surfing the internet, and I am happy you did, but please finish reading this post and get back to your true daily goals. The more you deviate from the things you must accomplish in a day’s time, the more time you have to spend in the office trying to actually get these tasks done. This affects the amount of income that comes into your business. It also affects your relationship with your family and friends. You may be putting in a lot of hours working on your internet business, but how many are truly dedicated to building your online business? Think about how many more curling matches or how many more hockey games you could fit in simply by staying on task when it comes to building your home business.
Remind yourself to stay on track. Set a clock. Put the clock in another part of the room and do not look at it. Until the clock goes off, focus on actually building your business, such as making videos, building your blog, and writing articles, not wasting time going aimlessly from one internet site to another. Pointless browsing also applies to forums, blogs, and networking communities as well. Yes, it’s so easy to get caught up in the Facebook and Twitter phenomenons. I’m not saying you should not network on these sights. By all means, I think we all know the potential of social media, but make sure the friends you are adding have serious networking potential from which you can both mutually benefit. It is usually a good idea to put off working on Facebook and Twitter, and the like, until your business building activities are accomplished. If you do want to check these social sites, have a strict time limit for doing so. Do not start your business day checking these sites. Think of socializing in an office setting. When people know the boss is nearby, the socialization stops. You must have the discipline to stop the socialization on your own.
2. Focus on Income Producing Activities
You must be persistent and consistent with your income producing activities. Your goal should be to decrease the amount of wasted time, such pointless web surfing, networking for fun, and increase the time spent on activities that are directly making you money. Income producing activities for many home based internet business owners include, advertising, contacting leads, following up with leads, writing articles, building your blog, and pay per click campaigns. Work on improving your marketing, improving your skills as a business owner, and speak with potential business partners. One way to possibly maximize your time is to outsource some aspects of your business such as market and product research. In addition, there are many people involved in internet marketing who also outsource things such as writing articles, creating a blog or website, and writing advertisements.
3. Your Business Grows as You Do
Set aside one hour of time each day and actually focus on yourself. You must ignore your cell phone, computer, and other distractions. Use this time to become clearer on your goals, analyze what is working in your business and what needs work. While it may seem like you don’t have the time to incorporate this into your day, consider how much time you waste by being off topic and not really sure of what you want to accomplish next. The one hour of time allows you to focus on your goals, create a plan of action, and help you to expand both your business and yourself through new ideas. Set your clock to go off in one hour. Write down the ideas you come up.
Focused and consistent action will get you results. Maximize the time spent in your office by staying focused on income producing activities. Set aside time for yourself to grow. Don’t just think about it, take action!
